Botanical Garden:
You must not miss the Botanical Garden as it is one of the best tourist attraction places in Ooty.An explicit collection of flowering tress, beautiful shrubs, and rare colored lilies are seen. The Garden is maintained by the Horticulture Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu and has a very wide variety of plants that include different types of roses, imported shrubs, rare flowering plants etc. The east hill of this garden also houses the tribes of Nilgiris, called Todas. Their tradition and culture is a matter of significance if you were interested in human civilization.
Doddabetta Peak:
The Doddabetta Peak stands at an altitude of 2,623 meters.It is the highest point in the Nilgiris, making it possibly the best location around Ooty. There is a "Telescope house" that is run by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation in the Doddabetta Peak to enable the tourist to get a better view of the town.Ooty is undisputedly one of the best hill stations of South India.
Ooty Lake:
Surrounded by lofty eucalyptus trees and shrubs the lake is a scenic delight to ones from the concrete jungles. During summer seasons, in May, boat races and boat pageantry are organized for two days at the lake which draws huge crowd. In recent years the lake and the boat house have become the hub of entertainment for the visitors.
Rose Garden:
Rose Park is situated in the heart of Ooty town and it is located less than one kms from Charring Cross at Vijayanagaram. The Rose varieties planted in this park were assembled from different sources. The ‘Nila Maadam’ is located in a spot from where viewers can see the entire rose garden.
Pykara lake/ Pykara Boat House:
A boat house by the Pykara falls and Dam is added attractions to the tourists. The major attraction of this place is the boathouse, with restaurant and a rest house to provide you with ultimate comfort. It is a clean and scenic lake in between the hills. It is an isolated lake free from pollution and maddening crowed .
Located at a distance of 25 km from ooty. This is a must see place on your trip to Ooty. An exotic experience of mountain trekking could be realized in this place.
Emerald Lake:
Located at a distance of 25 km from ooty.Emerald lake is a wonderful lake in the upper plateau region of the Nilgiri hills. It is a part of the silent valley and is beside the Red hill nature resort which is a best picnic place of the region.A must see natures beauty.
Kalhatty water falls :
Situated on the slopes of Kalhatty, the magnanimous Kalhatty Waterfall stands pretty amidst picturesque landscapes. But falls could be seen in a particular season from September to November. The height of this falls is 40m.It is located about 13 Kms from Ooty.
The Mukkurthi Peak And National Park:
Mukkurthi is a beautiful stop on your trip to Ooty, which is located at a distance of 40-km from Ooty. Ideally located on the Southern corner of the Nilgiri, this attracts tourists from distinct corners.
Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary:
Mudumalai wildlife reserve was the first sanctuary in south India. Within the sanctuary is an elephant camp called "Theppakkadu", where there is a rest house.Langur, bonnet macaque, tiger, leopard, wild dog, hyena, jackal, sloth bear, elephants, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, Indian muntjac, mouse deer, wild boar, rodent and flying squirrel are part of the wildlife in Mudumalai. This is one of India's best sanctuaries.
Dolphin Nose:/St. Catherine Water Falls:
Dolphin’s Nose around 10 km from Ooty. This is an excellent viewpoint. It encompasses the St. Catherine Falls. Lambs nose is another point on the way to Dolphins Nose. From Dolphin's Nose of Coonoor one can have a magnificent view of St. Catherine Water falls which is about 250 feet height. The waterfalls is 8 Kms from Kotagiri. To reach the top of the hills tourist should take a diversion at Aravenu on Kotagiri - Mettupalayam road.
Kodanadu’s Viewpoint:
From Kodanadu’s viewpoint, we feel that we can touch the clouds as it is located at a higher altitude. Precisely, if you desire to see nature from a remarkable view, then the appropriate place will be the Kodanadu’s viewpoint, which is just 18 km away from Kotagiri.
